Diabetes cuts your life by 15 years.

Think about this. Your are 45 or 50 years old and you have diabetes. You want to live to be 80 or 85 years old. At age 50 you hope to live at least 30 more years. Now think about the fact you have diabetes and subtract 15 years form your life expectance. Now instead of living to 80 you are now expected to live only until 65. Wait a minute, that is only 15 short years away. Living until 80 or 30 more years seems a whole lot longer and much further away.
See what is happening. By not taking diabetes as seriously as you might, you are at risk for shortening your life by half. My hope is that all interested individuals will find some valuable tools here to begin to take massive action to control their diabetes. Please review the links to diabetes resources on this site now.

Diabetes Brings Earlier Heart Disease, Death

To quote the article

“Perhaps the most striking numbers in the report involved life expectancy. People with type 2 diabetes who were also classified as being at moderate or high risk for cardiovascular disease died an average of about 18 years earlier than non-diabetics, the researchers found.”

This video from The New York Times is still one of the best resources on the web to explain what is happening in this country with respect to the epidemic of diabetes and obesity. They have added a short commercial before the presentation, but don’t let that confuse you. Click this link to view the program and pass it on to your family and friends.

Richard K. Bernstein, M.D. is a type I diabetic since 1946. He is now one of the world’s leading authorities on techniques to acutually normalize blood sugar for the type I and type II diabetic. I highly recommend obtaining his books and tapes as a virtual “how to” guide to gain control of your blood sugar and weight, maybe for the first time. Do not accept constant failure and frustration and learn the proven techniques that thousands of patients have used successfully to manage this common condition.

Marc Santora and N.R. Kleinfield are two reporters from The NY Times that need to get an award from the Surgeon General for their outstanding reporting on the diabetes epidemic afflicting New York and the world. They document in clear detail and rapid fashion the underlying causes of this epidemic and the failure of our current system to do anything about preventing this growing crisis. This is a must read for everyone.

If you can do nothing else. Please take the time to view these excellent videos on the subject. In a matter of a few minutes, these reports paint a clear picture of the crisis and what needs to be done to address the fundamental causes.
